Evening

Mark’s progress is absolutely amazing. He wrote a note to his dad today, which reads “Fear and or pain applied are the best motivators”. We don’t know if this is an original thought or a quote, but we are pleased none the less. He had a full day of PT, OT and speech therapy today and was still awake and ready for more tonight.

I am glad the lip sync is over. Make him write absolutely fuckin everything and then check his spelling.

Wow! I'm away for a bit and there's great progress. Let's hope it continues--I'm sure it will--and soon the old Mark will be back.
Keep it up man!
And Chris you hang in there too, I cannot imagine what a harrowing time this has been--I so admire you!

Chris, please read to Mark.

Mark,

Damon, Diz and I are out in California, but keeping tabs via the blog...THANK YOU CHRIS! We're really glad to see you're improving and would expect nothing less because you're a winner! If there's anything you'd like me to bring back tell Chris to text me and I'll make every effort. Stay strong and know that our prayers are with you bro.

I intended to come see you before we left but it happened to be on the day they moved you to rehab...that ended that. I will see you when we get back. Keep up the good work and know you are in our prayers.

This is such incredibly great news. While we have not posted to the Blog, we have been following very closely.

Mark, hope that you continue to make excellent progress!

Chris, You are an amazing woman. Mark is a very lucky man to have you at his side. We hope to meet you someday.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

The first real text from the man and "Fear and or pain applied are the best motivators”. " He is definitely back. Who else would say something like that after weeks on his back? Good to have you back in the literary saddle.

I get over to rehab as soon as the fucking cold goes away. Don't want to pass on any of these germs.

See you soon buddy.

"Fear and or pain applied are the best motivators"? Boy, that's truly Markiavellian. Listen to your consigliori, dude: fear and pain are only "good" motivators in adversarial relationships. For the other kind, us humans are lucky enough to have something better... it's called love.

You know me - I'm not much of a starry-eyed romantic, I don't take much on blind faith, and I'm enough of an engineer and scientist at heart to demand hard proof where possible. Fear, in my experience, *stops* people from doing things you don't want them to do - it's a preventative - but it takes a lot more than that to get them to *do* things. That takes love, and joy, and a heart that's open to the possibilities.

I wish you more love, and less pain.
