Later Morning

I'm heading to the hospital now. Mark had a CAT scan during the night but I don't know the results. Only one of his ventricular drains is draining. His ventriculars are dry but his brain is still swollen. They've given him medication to reduce the edema. He's responding less. Mark is having an MRI to rule out a stroke this morning. I also have a meeting scheduled with his attending physician sometime this afternoon. Finally.

Hey Mark, I heard you were in trouble (through the team)--but never found out until they linked me over here just what it was.
Yike! That's a hell of a thing. Listen, you have to get better pretty quick or else I'll be stuck being the worst shot in the company!
Seriously, I'm hanging in there for you-- Hell, I miss you already!

Your Pard,
Spensah

Hey Chris:
I realize you are under a great deal of stress at this moment in time. My wife and I have gone through a similar situation a few years ago.... and the Jefferson Hosp. is where I WOULD WANT TO BE given the circumstances you are faced with. Hang tuff is easy to say.... You are not the first and unfortunately will not be the last to undergo this experience. DO KNOW, that we are praying for you and you are on our minds. I have received many inquires as to Rico's situation and am glad to refer them to this BLOG. It informs and shows what emotions run though our lives. Not being there physically, does not mean we don't care. We pray for your (and the families) strength and endurance and wisdom as well as Mark's complete recovery. Stay well.

Dear Chris,

I'm a friend of Mark's from his Civil War stuff -- having worked on a couple of his books with him. Like everyone who knows him, I'm completely devastated by this news and hang on every word of your posts hoping (and praying) for positive news! Although I've only met you a couple of times, my thoughts and prayers are with you, Mark, and your families. Mark is a rare person who has touched us all in countless ways we can't even imagine.
Be well!! pax...

Chris, We are horrified by this weird and unexpected series of events.
I have never met you, but the one most important in my life,Celeste, knows you well and our friendship with Mark goes back to the "Vulcan" days in Oakland, Ca.,where we were neighbors and friends. Mark was our original inspiration and facilitator into the computer world and a good bud to this day.
Our prayers, thoughts, and love are focused on Mark's return to health.
Know that we wish you strength and that our hearts are with you.

I'm sitting here downin new Orleans waiting for good news. I sometimes joke about my favorite quote from "The Outlaw Josie Wales", but it seems approprite now - "Endeavor to Persevere".

DO NOT let the MDs push you around. I have learned that you sometimes have to take charge of things and pull information from reluctant doctors. Follow your instincts and, in the meantime, I will hope for the best.

I was shocked to hear you had a misfire. Alan Brecher and I spoke the day after you were admitted. You were the first Cowboy shooter I met 3 and 1/2 years ago and I dare say you roped me into cowboy shooting. I know you will beat this and I pray for your speedy recovery. Harley Bob

Chris:

You are awesome. I just want Mark and all of his friends to know how caring and wonderful you are and have been. Your strength is amazing. From the moment you first called me with the news I could tell Mark was going to be loved and care for throughout this ordeal. We should all be so lucky to have a friend and lover as special as you.

Mark:

Yo! Bubba I want you to know I’m pulling for you. You are on my mind and in my prayers every stinking moment, awake and in my sleep. This was not supposed to happen this way, I always thought you would be the one there for all of us, like you always are, the last one standing, the protector of ALL. So now the tables are turned. Read the incredible things your friends are posting here and know you are loved.

See you soon
Albert, Al, Alan

Chris, you are doing an amazing job in letting everyone know what's going on. Mark has been on my mind every day. I just cannot abide the fact that the dream that was Mark Seymour might go away.
...Florida...writing a new book. I know it's still there. We are not religious people, but we are praying for Mark. Maybe God looks kindly on prodigals.

My Dearest Mark,
I know that I do not have to tell you how lucky you are to have such a wonderful woman by your side. Chris is a tough woman even through her tears. I watch her talk to you, stroke your face and hold your hand. However, she grows weary waiting for your eyes to meet hers. How amazing such a little thing like a glance can mean so much. My prayers are with you as well as with Chris at this moment.
with love,
Sandy and of course Ron, too
